Mindful Self Compassion

Cultivating self kindness, common humanity, and mindfulness through meditation, community, and practice; classes are available online and in person.

  • What Is Mindful Self Compassion?

Mindful Self Compassion is a secular, research based curriculum created by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer. MSC helps you cultivate self-kindness, connection, and awareness to enrich your daily life through a combination of meditation practices, reflective activities, and learning in community.

In the research, self compassion consistently correlates with wellbeing, including life satisfaction, gratitude, curiosity, autonomy, relatedness, lowered distress, and improved resources for coping. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce anxiety and depression, aid in sleep, lower blood pressure, and help people cope with pain.

  • What Classes Are Available?

I teach free one-hour introductions online, one day introductory workshops, and the full 8-week-plus-retreat course, both online and in person.

In MSC classes we write, share, move, and learn together.

  • What Experience Is Required?

No prior mindfulness, self compassion, or meditation experience is required. MSC is a great program for beginners, for those of us who aren’t trying to become great meditators (like me), as well as for long time mindfulness practitioners and everything in between.
